Margaret Wood

February 22, 1931 — October 1, 2019

Moss Bluff -- Margaret Imogene Wood, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at a care facility in Kinder, LA. Mrs. Wood was born and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas, where she met her lifetime love & husband of 53 years, Kennie Ray Wood.  She followed him in his long employment with Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation from El Dorado to Richmond, TX, to Opelousas, LA, to Hankamer, Anahuac and Mont Belvieu, TX, before they finally landed in 1976 in Ragley, LA.

Ms. Imo was a wonderful homemaker...there was no better cook, seamstress, boo-boo kisser, or vacation bible school snack lady around. When she worked outside the home, it was at daycares to care for other peoples' children; she loved kids, no matter if they were hers or someone else's. She was an active part of her church and an integral part of her church family at Magnolia Baptist Church in Ragley.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, George Clifford Cates and Lela Lessie Ward Cates; husband, Kennie Ray Wood and daughter, Belinda Jean Wood; sisters, Jean Atkinson and Clara Faulkner and step-mother Clara Belle Cates.

She is survived by her son, Gary Wood and wife Beverly of Katy, TX; daughter, Melissa Thornton and husband James of Ragley, LA; brother, G.F. "Bud" Cates and wife Nancy of El Dorado, AR; grandchildren, Erika Harms, Gregory Allan, Gary Wood Jr., Jamison Thornton, Janee' Hungerford and great-grandchildren, Madeline Harms, David Harms, Ashley Springer and Evelyn Hungerford.

Funeral Services will be at noon on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Johnson Funeral Home Moss Bluff. The Reverend Kelly Craft will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will resume on Friday at 11:00 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Alzheimer Association or American Diabetes Association in honor of Ms. Imo.
