Bobby Gauthreaux, 80, of Lake Charles, LA died Saturday, July 11, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born on June 20, 1935 to Lee and Lucia LeBlanc Gauthreaux. He was a strong man in his Catholic faith. He was a lector and Eucharistic minister at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church until relocating to Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he attended daily mass and was a member of Lay Carmelites Saint Teresa of the Little Flower Community. He was a member and past president of the Lake Charles chapter of Serra Club International. He graduated from Landry Memorial High School in 1956 and McNeese State University in 1960 with a degree in Chemistry and was employed by Olin Chemicals until his retirement. He was a past president of the McNeese Alumni Association and a member of Petrochem Athletic Association Booster Club. Bobby was also an avid sports fan and hunter. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Durio Gauthreaux; his children, Sheila and husband Wendell Lejeune, Patsy and husband Jeff Byrley, Theresa and husband Danny Johnson all of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Tom Gauthreaux of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren, Matthew Byrley, Kyle and wife Lindsay Byrley, Amanda and husband Brett Stutes and great grandchildren, Findley, Fletcher and Axel Stutes. He is also survived by siblings, Leroy and wife Joyce Gauthreaux of Gretna, Louisiana, Ted and wife Debbie Gauthreaux and Nancy and husband Howard Percle all of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ferdinand, Edwin, Norman, Fred and Frannie Margie Gauthreaux, Nellie Woods and Bette Gremillion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Father Jeff Starkovich and Monsignor Vincent Sedita will officiate services. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2015 with a scripture service beginning at 6:00 PM followed by a Lay Carmelites rosary at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be expressed to family at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net.
