A. J. Simmons Jr., 61 passed away on May 2, 2013 in his residence. A.J. was a welder for PPG. He was an assistance Pastor for 12 years at Southside Tabernacle Church in Lake Charles, a Pastor for two years at Canaan Land Christian Center in Johnson Bayou and an Evangelist for several years. A.J. was a people person, who loved all his family deeply. He also loved the great outdoors including boating, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, camping with his family and friends. A. J. Jr. is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karla Simmons; two daughters, Teri LeDoux and husband, Kelvin and Ashley Nikki Johnson and husband, Louis; son, A.J. Simmons III and wife, Jodi all of Sulphur; 2 sisters, Cheryl Sandy Fountain and husband, Mike and Dorsalene Tench Miller and husband, Aulden; 2 brother, Doyle Simmons and wife, Patricia and Gene Simmons; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Dorothy Simmons; and 3 brothers, Julius Leroy Simmons, Billy Ray Simmons and Alan Dale Simmons. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 4-6 at Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur. We would like to thank the caregivers of Harbor Hospice for their kindness and care of our dad.
