Aaron H Stephens

Aaron H. Stephens, 83, of Lake Charles, died Christmas morning in a Lake Charles Hospital.


Mr. Stephens was born in Hope Villa near Baton Rouge and lived in Baton Rouge until 1951. He attended Woodlawn High School.


In 1951 Mr. Stephens moved to Lake Charles and went to work as a welder and pipefitter at Cities Service and later P.C.I. He retired after thirty-three years of service. He was also a former member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local # 106.


Mr. Stephens served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post # 179 in Sulphur. He was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church and more recently was a member of the First United Methodist Church.


Mr. Stephens is survived by his daughter Glinda Stephens Atterbery and her husband Ted Atterbery, Jr. of Lake Charles; two grandchildren, Lauren Atterbery Rodriguez and her husband Nicholas of Lake Charles and Meredith Atterbery of Baton Rouge, as well as a great grandchild Luca Rodriguez. He is also survived by two brothers, Preston M. Stephens and his wife Geraldine and Henry Stephens and his wife Joyce all of Baton Rouge; two sisters-in law, Jeanette Stephens of Baton Rouge and Lucille H. Himel of Houma. A special friend for the past seventeen years, Minnie Ruth Sayes also survives Mr. Stephens.


Mr. Stephens parents, Oliver A. and Ollie Womack Stephens, as well as four brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 28, at The First United Methodist Church. The Revs. Weldon Bares and Louis Blankenbaker will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home and from 9:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday in the church.
