Aaron James Tankerson was born on October 11, 1955, to James and Doris Tankerson in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The heart and soul of New Orleans gifted him with his boisterous personality and love of Jazz music. He attended and graduated from Marion Abramson High School then went on to attend University of New Orleans. In his younger years he enjoyed playing the Saxophone
His employment brought him to Lake Charles, where he met Sheryl, and on April 6, 1993, they exchanged vows. Aaron was employed as a Salesman at Billy Navarre and Auto Plex in Sulphur, LA. He worked hard to provide for his family and in his off time, you would find him spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Did we mention he loved the New Orleans Saints? He never missed a chance to root on HIS team. When they weren’t coming across his TV screen, he would watch any other team play.
He possessed a heart of Gold, he was always willing to help others, he would fill them with laughter on their bad days and he was never short on bad “Dad” jokes.
He was welcomed into Heaven on June 9, 2021 by his parents, and a brother, Richard Tankerson.
Those left to cheer for his beloved Saints are his wife of 28 years, Sheryl; his children, Kendrick Tankerson, Katherine (Jermaine) Blaney, Kimberly Fontenot, and Kevin (Alejandra Rivas) Tankerson; his grandchildren, Sevyn Tankerson, Halle Blaney, Kaleigh Blaney, Patrick Jermaine Guillory Jr., Kimora Guillory, Cali Rivas Tankerson, Keval Rivas Tankerson; a sister Roullette Robinson; a brother, Arnold Blount; and his best friends of over forty years, Kenneth Scott, Nelson Morgan and the entire Desire band members.
The family will welcome friends at University Baptist Church on Saturday, June 19, 2021, beginning at 10:00am until his time of service. A Celebration of his life will begin at 12:00pm, you are invited to wear your favorite New Orleans Saints Colors in his memory.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heart of Hospice for the care of their loved one.
