Abraham Abie Aucoin

August 12, 1930 — March 2, 2011

Abraham "Abie" Aucoin, 80, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the comfort of his home.


Mr. Aucoin was born, raised and educated in Chataignier, LA. He served the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked his younger years in the construction industry. Mr. Aucoin served his community for ten years as Sergeant with the Lake Charles City Police, he then served twenty five years as a Deputy with the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's Office from which he retired.


Mr. Aucoin enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, spending time with family and was an avid golfer. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church where he served as an Usher and was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. He leaves a legacy of grandchildren who followed his career in Law Enforcement.


He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of fifty four years, Georgia LeBleu Aucoin of Lake Charles; four daughters, June Bailey and husband Kenneth, Helen Parker and husband James, Janie LaCasse and husband Luther, and Karen Duhon and husband Howard all of Lake Charles; one brother, Robert Aucoin and wife Jeanette of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren and one great- great- grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Vernice Guillory Aucoin and one grandson, Jason Duhon.


Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 5, 2011 in St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Bill Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Friday will be from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a Cursillo rosary and scripture service beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home.
