Adam Johnson

Adam Johnson, 91, of Lake Charles died peacefully Saturday November 26, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.


A native of Eunice, was born March 4, 1920 to Edward Joseph and Lena Miller Johnson. He was a longtime resident of Lake Charles, retired from the Port of Lake Charles, as member of International Longshoreman's Association (ILA) # 1214. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church where he served as a gift bearer for the 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM Masses.


Mr. Johnson was an avid gardener and loved to spend time in his garden growing vegetables for his family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Eve LaFleur Johnson, son Rodney Johnson and grandchildren, Hailey Hinch, Gerald Andry and an infant son James Johnson


Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Esther Pousson Johnson; four sons, Hubert Johnson, Corbutt Fournerat, and Gerald Fournerat and wife Kayla all of Lake Charles; and Robert Dale Johnson and wife Kathy of Longville; three daughters, Dorothy Andry and husband Bud of Longville Rona Denton of Lafayette, and Diane Peterson and husband Bill of Muskego, WS; a brother Lester Johnson of Friendswood, TX.. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and numerous great and great, great grandchildren..


Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Margaret Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Conner officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Basile, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation on Wednesday is from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
