Adlas Joseph "A.J." or "Pop" Broussard, 65, a true cowboy, was called home on July 24, 2010 to greener pastures.
He was born on May 19, 1945 in Lake Charles to Guy Joseph and Dula Thibodeaux Broussard. A 1963 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School, Pop met Delores Koop that same year. They married on August 28, 1965 and cherished everyday together. During their time together, Pop and Dee were blessed with Jody on April 19,1973 and Lacy on April 15, 1977. A member of Living Faith for 28 years, he served as an elder for 25 years. His joy was serving the Lord and others.
A.J. worked for Borden's for 9 years, Oilquip for 12 years and he retired from Louisiana Utilities after 18 years of service as a truck driver. He treasured his Cajun roots and was a member of the rambling Cajuns for 6 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Delores Koop Broussard; son Jody Lee Broussard and wife Summer; daughter Lacy Broussard Fontenot and husband Wallace "Bubba", grandchildren Dalton Fontenot and Casey, Kevin, and Katrina Page; one brother Bobby Broussard and wife Cathy; three sisters Lou Ethel Lewis and husband Stan, Debbie Broussard and husband Warren; Lalla Allen and husband Dickie, and countless nephews, nieces and many friends that became family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM today, July 26 at Johnson Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Living Faith Felloswhip Church, 8303 Hwy 190, Ragley with services beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
