Adolphus Crochet

December 1, 1942 — September 13, 2016

Adolphus L. Crochet, 73, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in a local hospital.  He was born on December 1, 1942 in Forduche, LA to Alfred and Gertrude LeJeune Crochet.  He resided in Sulphur most of his life and was a 1962 graduate of Sulphur High School.  Adolphus was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam during President Kennedy’s term.  He was retired from Citgo.  Adolphus was a member of the Catholic faith and was a member of the American Legion Post 179.

Adolphus is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy T. Crochet; his children, Larry, Cathy (Deere), Scotty, Lonnie, Toni and Jamie Crochet; his sisters, Donnie Morrell, Theresa Ardoin and Ethel Rossett; his brothers, Alfred and Jasper Crochet; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  Adolphus was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gloria Bacque Wolbrink.

Services for Adolphus will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur.  Burial will be held in Mimosa Pines South in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4-8 PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  A Cursillo rosary will be held at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 9-12:30 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Forduche, LA around Baton Rouge, LA.  Moved to Sulphur, LA and started 1st grade and graduated at Sulphur High School.  Joined and served six years in the Navy during the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam while President Kennedy was our President.  Started mechanic work for Hooper Dodge in Lake Charles then went to work at Pelican Supply in Maplewood.  Left and went to New Iberia to work as a mechanic.  Moved to Houma, LA to work in the shipyard then worked for Otis engineering for three years.  Moved back to Sulphur and worked for Thornton Chrysler Plymouth.  Then worked at Citgo until retirement.  Along this journey I gained a wife, six children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
