Agnes Ashworth Thompson

Agnes Marie Ashworth Thompson, 84, of Lake Charles, LA died at 12:17 PM on Sunday, July 18, 2010.

Mrs. Thompson was born May 11, 1926 in Starks, LA, where she attended Starks High School. She lived in Westlake for a number of years, before traveling the world with her husband during his Air Force Career. In 1974 she moved back to the Lake Charles / Westlake area. Mrs. Thompson worked most of her life as a teller at a number of banks around the country. She was a member of the Krewe de la Noblesse, serving as queen in 1989. She attended Trinity Baptist Church and participated in a number of civic organizations. She will always be remembered as a wonderful seamstress and cook, and enjoyed making jelly for all her friends and family.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Joyce Smith of Lake Charles; brother, Jimmie Ashworth and wife Alice of Westlake; sister-in-law, Shirley Ashworth of Corvallis, OR; grandchildren, John Fayko, III and wife Pam, Missy Abraham and husband Jim, and Wayne Smith, all of Lake Charles; great-grandchildren, J.K., Chance, and Elizabeth Fayko and Anne Marie and Tillie Abraham; along with a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Thompson; an infant son; parents, Hugh and Lida Ashworth; sister, Dorothy Hebert; brothers, Howard and Horace Ashworth.

Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
