Alan C. Lyles

Alan C. Lyles, 64, was called home September 11, 2012, surrounded by the love of his beautiful family. Alan was born to Ira Claude and Helen Vollmer Lyles in Granite City, Illinois, on February 4, 1948.


He graduated from McNeese State University. Alan retired from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury after a career in public works. Alan was a proud American and served in the United States Navy from 1967-1970. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in DaNang and Guam.


Alan was happiest on the golf course and spent many years playing at Pine Shadows with his close friend Ron Ryder. He was a proud and active supporter of the McNeese Cowboy football team. His friends and family always looked forward to tailgating season to enjoy time together sharing his spirit and friendship. His red beans and rice and jambalaya were the best!


Alan is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughter Alanna, and son Casey and wife Farrah. His six grandsons - Devin, Dylan, Austin, Nick, Gavin, and Jacob Alan is on the way! He also leaves to cherish his memory his brother and best friend, Bobby and wife Effie, sisters Iris Fontenot and husband Moe, Laura, and sister-in-law Diana. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Craig.


His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. A special thank you to Dr. Moon and his colleagues for their compassion and expertise. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
