Albert Patrick Marcantel

June 22, 1964 — July 5, 2011

Albert "Patrick" Marcantel, 47, of Lake Charles died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in a local hospital.

Patrick was born on June 22, 1964, in Kinder, LA and was reared in Oberlin where he graduated from Oberlin High School with a band scholarship to McNeese State University. Upon completing a B.A. degree in Mass Communications he began his career at KPLC where he met his lovely wife Judy. They resided in DeRidder for ten years, where he was employed at Boise Cascade. They relocated to Lake Charles ten years ago where his talent and ambition led him to invest in the ownership and publishing of The Times of Southwest Louisiana. He also owned and operated I.D. Marketing through which he conducted numerous successful political campaigns.

A few of Patrick's hobbies included photography, music, NASCAR, computer networking, and researching his family tree. The highlight of his high school years was participating in the Sound of America National Band and Chorus. He toured Europe and came back with many fun stories to tell his family and friends. He was a great entertainer who enjoyed spending time kicked-back poolside with friends and family who were more than happy to gather for his stories and famous barbeque. Patrick was a loving and devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with his wife and daughters, Karly and Ashley. Throughout his life Patrick had a personal relationship with his Lord, Jesus Christ. It connected him to people from all walks of life.

Patrick was a member of the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance's board of directors, Fusion Five, and the Ad and Press Club of Southwest Louisiana. He served on the Board of the Downtown Development Authority and was a co-chairman of the Millennium Park Public Relations Committee. Patrick volunteered for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Great Strides Committee and the Boy Scouts. He participated in the Leadership Louisiana program of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL). While it is impossible to capture in words what his life meant to his family and community, his many accomplishments and community involvement offer a glimpse of Patrick's true character.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Judy Cinquemano Marcantel; two daughters, Karly and Ashley Marcantel, both of Lake Charles; his mother, Pat Carroll Marcantel of Lake Charles; two sisters, Laurie Marcantel of Colorado and Michele Marcantel of Kinder; three brothers, Carey Marcantel and wife Diane of Oberlin, Philip Marcantel and wife Becky of Kinder, and Michael Marcantel and wife Carol of Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and Karen Cinquemano of Lake Charles; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lee "Brother" Marcantel and a sister, Mary Alice Guillory.

Visitation will be at Trinity Baptist Church, 1800 Country Club Road, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 8, and will continue from 1 p.m. on Saturday until service time. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor John Bosman will officiate. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.

Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net.

"A good name is better than fine perfume,

And the day of death better than the day of birth.

It is better to go to a house of mourning

Than to go to a house of feasting,

For death is the destiny of every man;

The living should take this to heart."

Ecclesiastes 7:1-2
