Albert Wilrye

August 9, 1956 — November 22, 2012

On Thursday, November 22, 2012, God dispatched an angel from heaven to escort Albert Al Wilrye from a local hospital to his new home in heaven.


Albert Al was born on August 9, 1956, to the late Alberta and Curley Wilrye in Westlake, Louisiana. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age.


He was a dedicated Christian of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as head deacon, usher, bus driver, and church treasurer. He was also a member if the Board of Directors, choir member, and served on various committees. One of his passions was to attending church revivals, ushers' annuals, and other anniversaries.


He graduated from Westlake High School and attended McNeese State University. He worked for Gulf States Utility Company and most recently Acme Truck Line.


Al's greatest times were shared with his family and friends. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.


Al was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin; brothers-in-laws, Carlton Wayne Sutton, Clarence Pryor, Gary Goodly, and Donnie Jackson; sister-in-law, Caroline Wilrye; and nephew, Marvin Parker.


Left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Robert (Delores) Wilrye of Westlake, and Larry Wilrye of Denver; eight sisters, Iva (Preston) Washington, Betty (Curtis) Parker, Joann (Rev. Frederick) Coleman, Catherine (Stanley) Parsons, and Carolyn Goodly, all of Lake Charles, Ova Jackson, Willie Pryor, and Patricia Sutton, all of Westlake; aunt Evelyn Shelton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, 1012, at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Madison Clark, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
