Aldon "Sonny" Soileau, Jr.

Aldon “Sonny” Soileau, Jr., 86, of Moss Bluff passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones following a brief illness.

He was born on July 20, 1934 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Beatrice Sensat Soileau and Aldon Soileau, Sr. Mr. Soileau was a loving father, grandfather and family man. He worked as a Maintenance Technician at the Continental Oil Company for many years before retiring.  He was a proud of his Cajun Heritage, and enjoyed watching LSU sports, the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Astros. Mr. Soileau also enjoyed vegetable gardening and was a devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dr. Michael Soileau (Pauline), Camille Melanson (Mike), Alex Soileau (Dawn), and Melissa McGee (Mark); Grandchildren, Logan Soileau (Megan), Cameron Soileau (Danielle), Mattie Soileau, Jeremy Melanson (Shannon), Hayden Melanson, Jackson Melanson, Blayne Soileau, Darby Soileau, Emily Pierce (Donovan), Christian McGee and Devin McGee; great grandchildren, Jennie and Liam Melanson; brother-in-law, Jack Fox; sisters-in-law, Billie Donovan, Bernell Fox and Betty Soileau and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Fox Soileau; brother, Irving Soileau and sisters, Lea Thompson and Billie Jo Soileau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 1:00pm. Fr. Paul Jussin will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am until 12:15pm.
