Alfred Carter Jr.

Alfred Carter, Jr., 75, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly yet peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles, Alfred was born on September 6, 1948 to Alfred Sr. and Cora Savoie Carter. Affectionately known as ““Carter” or ”AJ,” to his friends, Alfred supported his friends and community (especially local eateries). Also, Alfred served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for many years at Firestone as well as a security officer for the Lake Charles Port Authority. After years of labor, he retired and enjoyed time studying his Bible, hunting, cutting grass, contributing to several charities and hanging out with his buddies.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Mary Brown Carter, daughters; Preklet Michelle Jackson, Falatta Fifi Jackson, Aileecia Carter, son; Steven Carter, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers; Rodney Carter (Helen), Jerome Guillory (Doreen) and Ronald Guillory (Latondra) as well as a host of family and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; son; Alfred “Bull” Carter III, sisters; Debra Minor and Linda Faye Guillory.

Visitation for Alfred will begin at 10:00A.M. and continue until service time at 11:00A.M. on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Burial and military honors will follow services at 1:30P.M. at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA. No repast.
