Alfred "Gromock" Duhon, 86, of Sweetlake died on Monday September 7, 2015 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Duhon was a native and life-long resident of Sweetlake. He was an active member of St. Mary of the Lake, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was well known for raising his chickens, and enjoyed dancing, golf and gambling. Preceding him in death are his parents, John B. and Merilla Agnes Faulk Duhon, sister, Vivian LaBove and beloved wife of 56 years, Bernice Gautreaux Duhon. He leaves to cherish his memory three children, John Ed Duhon, Sweetlake; Kenneth Duhon and wife Pam, Lake Charles and Diane Duhon Wheeler and husband John, Sweetlake; brother, Michael Paul Duhon and wife Wanda, Sweetlake and sister, Leatrice Viator and husband Al, Lake Charles; grandchildren, John Christopher Duhon, Melissa Wagstaff, Michelle Duhon, Amy Castro, and Preston Duhon; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be today, Wednesday September 9, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 10:00 AM until noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 1:00 PM Thursday September 10, 2015 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Burial will be at Grandlake Community Cemetery.
