Alice Evans Hill, 91, of Lake Charles, died July 28, 2016 in the comfort of her own home.
Alice, born February, 9 1925, a native of Baton Rouge, moved to Alexandria in 1953 and to Lake Charles in 1996. She was a member of Horseshoe Dr. Baptist Church in Alexandria and Sale St. Baptist Church in Lake Charles. A graduate of Baton Rouge Senior High School, attended Ward-Belmont Junior College in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from L.S.U.-Baton Rouge with a B.A. degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Social Welfare. She was employed as a Medical Social Worker at New Orleans Charity Hospital after graduation. In 1955, she began working in Rapides Parish with the LA State Department of Children, Youth, and Families. She retired March 1985 having served as a children’s caseworker in Rapides Parish and a Level II supervisor in the Alexandria Regional Office of Child Welfare for the parishes of Rapides, Winn, Grant, and Avoyelles.
Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Evans; husband, Thomas Elmo Hill, Jr.; and son, Thomas Elmo Hill III of Alexandria.
She is survived by two daughters, Linden Hill Cox and Mary Alice Hill Kritsonis; five grandchildren, Thomas Evans Turpin, Rosalind Turpin Farque, Chelsea Turpin Nolen, Alicia Kritsonis Brown, and Amanda Kritsonis. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home. Darin Worthington will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens at 3:30 PM. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the start of the service Sunday morning.
