Alice Joy (Gaudet) Spears-Courmier, 81, of Lake Charles, LA died at 6:43 AM on Monday, May 30, 2011 in a local hospital.
A native of Lafayette, she lived off and on in Lake Charles since 1957. She was a former employee of Mullers, Mayflower Movers, and Lake Charles Sewing. She and her late husband (Harold) moved to Hickory, NC to establish a United Pentecostal International Home Mission Church. They then became house parents to teen girls at Tupelo Children's Mansion in Tupelo, MS and returned to Lake Charles in 1984. Alice was a member of First United Pentecostal Church where she was a Sunday school secretary. She loved God and her family, fishing, camping, and travel with her late husband, Lee Roy Courmier, the love of her life for the past eleven years.
Alice is survived by her children, Robert "Bobby" Spears and wife Angela, Harold "Hal" Spears, II, Gayle Istre and husband Danny, and Joy Parr and husband Mike, all of Lake Charles; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the First United Pentecostal Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverends Jeffery Ralston and Harry Sommers will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery in Lacassine, LA. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
