Alice Marie Landry

Alice Marie Landry, 72, of Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at a local hospital. Mrs. Landry was born in New Orleans, was a native of Golden Meadows, and was a longtime resident of Iowa. She was active in her community where she was a member of RSVP and AARP. She was a bookkeeper for Waymon Alexander, substitute teacher and watched children in her home. Mrs. Landry was very involved in her children's lives which included acting as room mother in their school years and as Blue Bird director. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work with her husband and in her church, St. Raphael Catholic church, where she was in the Catholic Daughters and taught Catechism. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and grandchildren, camping and fishing, as well as spending time on the computer, reading, traveling, and visiting the casinos. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Claude Landry, Iowa; two sons, Keith J. Landry (Rebecca), Dayton, TX and Kenneth Landry (Sherry), Iowa; one daughter, Renee Nelson, Ruston, LA; her mother, Alice Lafont, Iowa; three grandchildren, Heather Roussell, Bradley (Sarah) Landry, and Whitney (Cody) Graham; brother, Donald Lafont (Karon), Oklahoma City, OK; godchildren, Kevin Joubert, Iowa and Mike Lafont, The Woodlands, TX as well as many extended family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Constant "Lulu" Lafont. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa, LA. The Rev. Andreas Kedati will officiate. Cremation will follow the services under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday in the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church for services. Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Chapman, Evan Petry, Marcus Landry, Brian Myers, Tim Landry, Kevin Joubert, Clinton Vidrine, and Richard Leger. Honorary pallbearers will be: Billy Vidrine, and Lloyd, Paul, and Bradley Landry.
