Alice Rae Stutes Johnson, 65, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away unexpectedly after a stroke on Monday, December 1, 2014 in a New Orleans hospital. Ms. Johnson was born naturally October 7, 1949 in Franklin, LA and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She experienced a new birth on December 4, 1993. She worked at Louisiana Radio for the past ten years as the purchasing agent. Ms. Johnson was a longtime dedicated member of Apostolic Temple UPC, where she previously taught Sunday school. She found her joy in the Lord, her family, and serving others in her community. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed. Ms. Johnson is survived by her children, Arletta Poole of Watkinsville, GA, Alissa Johnson of Houston, TX, and Patrick Cormier of New York, NY; siblings, Belinda Sue Pace and husband Bill of Mansfield, GA, Larry James Stutes and wife Ginger of Arlington, TX, and Rachel Marie Stutes of Covington, GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Brook Poole of Lake Charles, LA, Brandon Alex Cormier of the U.S. Navy, David Kyle Poole of Watkinsville, GA, Brent Paul Poole of Watkinsville, GA, and Jaden Deray Johnson of Houston, TX; great-granddaughter, Niala Elizabeth Singleton of Lake Charles; and a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Viola Stutes and brothers, Kenneth Roy Stutes and Terry Lee Stutes. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Apostolic Temple, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverends Ricky Treece and Jordan Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 11:00 AM. The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Rev. Jordan Anderson for the love and support he showed. Donations to the family can be made to help with expenses.
