Alice Sonnier

Alice Joan Ogea Sonnier was born on Jan. 17, 1934, in Lake Charles, La. Died on Jan. 18, 2025, at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her two sons Mathew and Gregory Sonnier and her daughter, Mary Christina Sonnier. She is survived by her husband of 67 years C.P. (Buddy) Sonnier, son Timothy with his wife Tamela, son Douglas Sonnier with his wife Debbie, and son Daniel Sonnier with his wife Brandi, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. 

Alice graduated from Lagrange High School and McNeese State University. As an educator she taught at ICCS and later in life as a CCD teacher at St. Theresa’s Church in Carlyss, La. Her passions were reading the Bible, cooking, crochet, quilting and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. 

Heavenly Father, today we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the life of Alice Sonnier, who was a shining light to her family and all who knew her. We thank You for blessing her with 91 years of life, filled with love, wisdom, and countless memories shared with her family and friends. Lord, we lift up Camille Paul (Buddy) Sonnier, who has lost his life partner, also Tim, Doug, and Dan, as they grieve the loss of their beloved mother. Comfort them in their sorrow and remind them that her love and legacy will forever live on in their hearts. We also remember Matt, Greg, and Christina, her children who preceded her in death, and we take solace in knowing they are reunited with their mother in Your eternal presence. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of Alice Sonnier’s life. May her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion continue to inspire her family and all who knew her. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

A Christian Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Father Joseph Gosellin M.S. will officiate services.
