Alicia Dale Lewis Smith

February 24, 1981 — November 14, 2021

Alicia Dale Lewis Smith was born February 24, 1981 in Monroe, Louisiana. She was the youngest daughter of Diana Dale and Robert Jay Lewis Jr.

Even at a young age, she met no strangers, nor any enemies. Her feisty spirit, quick wit, and fun-loving soul naturally brought smiles and laughter to those around her. She was admired by many for her accepting, loving personality.

She attended West Monroe High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball and graduated with the Class of 1999. She began attending the University of Louisiana-Monroe majoring in Pharmacy. She was a member of Kappa Epsilon and a Sweetheart for Phi Delta Chi.

When her true calling began to weigh in, she switched her major to nursing. With the Class of 2010 at the University of Louisiana Monroe she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She began working at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe and later relocated to Lake Charles to be closer to her parents and sister. She was employed at Christus Oshner Lake Area Hospital, specializing in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Her children were her world above all else. If she was not caring for the babies at the hospital then she was looking after them in every way. Together they often enjoyed spending time outdoors, crafts, paint by numbers or spending time with her “farm”. She had everything but the cow, but you better believe, it was on her list to have one! The neighborhood children often looked to her home as a second home to come to for help or if there was ever a need.

She was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, November 14, 2021 by her maternal grandfather, Orion Arland Olson; paternal grandparents, Robert Jay Lewis Sr. and Lois Ellen Nance Lewis; and an uncle, Randall Orton Olson.

Those left to cherish her memory: her three children, whom she loved above all else, Ethan Jay, Alivia Dale, and Liam Randall; her parents, Robert Jay Lewis Jr., and Diana Dale Lewis; a sister, Shanna Tiffany Simon and husband Aaron; maternal grandmother, Vera Jo Lacy Olson; and five nephews, Zane, Zander, Zachary, Gage, and Bryce; as well as numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will welcome friends on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Lake City Baptist Church located at 3940 Holly Hill Rd. Lake Charles, LA beginning at 10 am until time of service. Her Service of Witness to the Resurrection, led by Nanette Cagney, will begin at 12 pm. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery following service.
