Nora Aline Teet Busby Demarets, 85, of Lake Charles died Friday, April 5, 2013, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mrs. Demarets was born in Rose Pine, Louisiana and was the daughter of the late Jesse J. Busby and Lenora Kingery Busby. She lived her adult life in Lake Charles with her husband, Wilbert Lee Demarets, and only child, Carolyn Marie Demarets Stroh, both of whom preceded her in death.
Mrs. Demarets was a charter member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where both she and her husband served as ushers and where she taught religion class. She was also a member of Mended Hearts (Chapter #18), the Arthritis Foundation, the VFW Post 2130, and AARP. During her earlier years, she worked at both J.C. Penney and Sears and later worked as a homemaker. During her life, Mrs. Demarets loved to square dance with her husband Wilbert and loved to read. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends.
Mrs. Demarets is survived by three grandchildren Jackie Stroh of San Antonio, Texas; Jenny Stroh Perkins and husband Norm of Madison, Mississippi; and Becky Stroh Broussard of Lafayette, Louisiana and by four great-grandchildren Brook Elizabeth Broussard and Brandon Russell Broussard of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Sarah Rebecca Perkins and Ryan Evan Perkins of Madison, Mississippi.
The funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Lake Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home and continue from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Tuesday.
The family requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Association of Louisiana or Hospice of Acadiana in lieu of flowers.
