Allen Lawrence Rogers

Allen Lawrence Rogers, 84, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 in a local healthcare facility.

Mr. Rogers was a born March 12, 1937 in Grand Lake, LA and lived most of his life in South Lake Charles.  He was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School.  He served the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 2130.  Mr. Rogers proudly worked as a Trooper with the Louisiana State Police, retiring a Lieutenant with thirty-three years of service.  He worked his off time most of his career as a well-respected mechanic.  He enjoyed working in his yard and vegetable gardens.  Mr. Rogers was of Catholic faith.  He will be most remembered for as a strong man who worked hard and provided well.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of sixty-three years, Shirley Fruge Rogers of Lake Charles; six children, Ricky Rogers (Lynette) of Sulphur, Jackie Rogers Conner (Stephen) of Iowa, Ellen Jagneaux (Keith) of Lake Charles, Lisa Rogers of Sulphur, Clannie Rogers (Sharon) of Lake Charles and Eric Rogers (Annette) of Ball, LA; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester Rogers and Bobby Rogers (Dorothy), both of Lake Charles and a special nephew, Michael Fruge.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wayne LaLonde and granddaughter, Kelly Conner; parents, Edmond and Armani Babineaux Rogers; four brothers, Carey Rogers, Curley Rogers, Clannie Rogers and Clyde Rogers and three sisters, Virgie Busby, Lillian Doucet and Hazel Boudreaux.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate.  Interment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume Wednesday from 8:30 AM until 9:45 AM at University Baptist Church.
