Allie Belle Lee Jordan

July 12, 1918 — July 3, 2016

Allie Belle Lee Jordan, 97, of Lake Charles, died Sunday July 3, 2016 at a Lake Charles Hospice Facility following a brief illness.

 

Mrs. Jordan was a native of Vinton and a 1934 graduate of Vinton High School. Following her high school graduation, she attended Vincent College in Lake Charles, where she graduated from in 1938.

 

Professionally, Mrs. Jordan worked as a bookkeeper for TransUnion Gas, as owner and manager of Red Arrow Campground in Romayor, TX and finally as owner and manager of Woodsey Hollow Campground in Good Rich, TX. She retired at age 91 when she sold the campground in 2009. She also did a lot of volunteer services at Brenham State School, the Texas Association of Campground Owners, the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, and the American Businesswomen’s Association. She was a Christian by faith who enjoyed reading her bible and watching programs on television.

 

Preceding Mrs. Jordan in death are her parents, Oscar and Tazier Granger Lee; her beloved husband, Virgil Thomas Jordan (a native of Carthage, Arkansas); children, David Eric Jordan and Kathryn Jordan; siblings, Annie Sandifer, Trudy Morrow and Joseph Oscar Lee. She leaves to cherish her memories, a sister, Joy Nell Bell of LeBlanc, LA and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and extended family.

 

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rocky Istre will officiate. Burial will be alongside of her family at the Lee Cemetery near Starks. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

 

The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to the nurses and staff of Harbor Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living for the care and compassion they received.
