Allyson Dawn Meche

September 29, 1959 — October 23, 2021

Allyson Fewell Meche, was born on September 29,1959 and was called to her Heavenly home on Saturday, October 23,2021 at the age of 62.

Allyson began dancing at age 4 and studied all types along with Baton Twirling. She was very dedicated and practiced many hours to perfect her skills. It was her passion.

Allyson graduated from LaGrange High School, class of 1977 and then enrolled at McNeese State University. She was a Mass Communications major, served as Feature Twirler with the Cowboy Band and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi.

She also began working in her chosen profession and teaching Dancing and Baton classes for Dance Arts Studio. Spanning an 18-year career, she became director of Dance for the Studio. She was founder and artistic director of the LAKE AREA JAZZ COMPANY beginning in 1990 and her students were very successful with her choreography and coaching. The young ladies won many honors on a State, Regional, and National Stage. Her Company competed in Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Orlando, and Myrtle Beach. They were named National winners in several Dance Organizations. Allyson was also the Director of the Ice Pirates Playmates for the Ice Pirates Hockey team.

She was certified by the Dance Educators of America National Organization.

Allyson and her husband bought Dance Arts Studio when her mentor, Glenda Menard, retired. She was the owner/director until 2018. There were thousands of young students that Allyson shared her love of dance with throughout Southwest Louisiana. She taught them that hard work and dedication could make you a success, not only in Dance, but in life. The work ethic that she gave her students made a difference as they moved on to their adult lives.

She was a longtime member of Christian World Church, often donating her talent and skills to create costumes, décor, and choreography for church skits. She also loved singing in the church choir.

Traveling was another passion of hers, especially traveling with her son. She enjoyed attending various competitions for her studio, where she was their biggest supporter. A fond memory her son shared was a trip to the snow-covered city of New York. It’s not often children in the south can have a snowball fight and take a beautiful carriage ride in the snow.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Oscar Henry, and Vivian Frances Fewell and a brother, Jeffery Fewell.

Those left to cherish her memory; her husband of thirty-four years, Kenneth Wayne Meche; a son Aaron Christopher Meche; a sister in-love, Carolyn Witherwax. Allyson also had a “prayer posse” that became her caretakers for the last months of her life. Her family would like to thank Nadia Fontenot, Patricia Gorman, Sandra Thompson, Patricia Derouen Landry, Rebecca Monceaux, Kelli Hardy, Devaney Jones, Margie Fontenot, Dyane Elliott, Ginger Gomez, Glenda & Herman Menard.

The family will welcome friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 beginning at 5:00 pm at Christian World Church until time of service. A celebration of her life, led by Pastor Jerry Snider will begin at 5:30pm.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
