Alta Jane Mathews

Alta Jane Mathews, 67, of Lake Charles died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in her residence. Alta was born on March 2, 1946 in New York City, New York to Laverne and Alice Appleman.Mrs. Mathews enjoyed being around family and friends, collecting antique dolls, and spending time with her dog "Cotton". She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, John Mathews; two daughters, Kimberley Chambers of Longview, Texas and Michelle Ball of Sun City, California; two stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Brown of Lake Charles and Jennifer Toussaint of Sulphur; five sisters, Margie Walker of Rochester, New York, Sharon Maglin of Rochester, New York, Barbara Smith of Lancaster, California, Gail Cole of New Jersey, and Darlene Armstrong of New Jersey. She is preceded in death by her parents. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
