Altia Daigle Trahan, 86, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, February 07, 2015 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Trahan was born in Welsh, LA and has lived 65 years in Lake Charles. She worked many years as a bookkeeper for Walgreens Drug Store, Baileys Drug Store, Calcasieu Mercantile and many years with her husband for Augenstein Construction. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cleaning outside and LOVED to clean her house. Mrs. Trahan was a member of French club, The Club of Acadian of Lake Charles and for a few years welcomed new French Teachers of the area to her home, housing them until they found homes, transportation and were on their feet. She was also a member of the Ladies VFW Post 2130 where she was a longtime member and treasurer. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mrs. Trahan was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be most remembered for her love of her family and as a lady of integrity. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 64 years, Kernis "Blackie" Trahan of Lake Charles; one daughter, Arline Long and husband "W.R." of Ragley; three grandchildren, Kayla Gordon and husband Clifford; Kim Boudreaux and husband Clopha and Kristi Long and fiancé, Chuck Smith; five great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Arvilia Daigle; two brothers, Edward and Robert Daigle and her caregiver, Vanessa McDaniel. The family of Mrs. Trahan wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Arthur Primeaux, the nurses of Heart of Hospice and wonderful caregivers; Barbara Ellis (15 years), Darlene Langley, Carolyn Letigue, Kayla Gordon, Sandy Smith, Wendy Busby Lamberth and Laura Fuselier for their excellent and genuine care. A Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Monday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home.
