Alton Ewing, Jr.

October 3, 1957 — March 11, 2021

Alton Ewing Jr., 63 of DeRidder, LA was called Home March 11, 2021.

He was born October 3, 1957 in Jennings, LA to Zora and Alton Ewing Sr.

He attended Grand Lake High School, then enrolled into the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic. During his enlistment he was stationed in Florida where he served four years before receiving an honorable discharge.

Upon returning, he made DeRidder, LA his home. He was an avid lover of his German Shepherds, as he bred them for many years. He also enjoyed music, auto mechanics, and working on computers and electronics. He was employed with the Beauregard School Board for many years as their IT man, a career he enjoyed until his retirement.

A lesser known fact is that he possessed a giving and caring heart, he never met a stranger nor denied help to someone in need when it arose. It was never beneath him upon a random encounter with a stranger to give money when he felt so.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; a son, Alton Ewing III; and two sisters, Charlotte and Diane Ewing.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his children, Kayla Reeves, Ashley Slaydon, and Blake Leed; his grandchildren, Clarissa Ewing and Cassidy Reeves; a brother, Adrian “AJ” (Caren) Ewing; nieces, Crystal (James) Bourque and Alayna Ewing; his lifelong partner, Karon McNamara, and nephew/godson Joe Ewing (Amber).

The family will welcome friends on Saturday March 13, 2021 at University Baptist Church beginning at 4pm to 8pm. A graveside service will be held Sunday March 14, 2021 at Andrus Cove Cemetery in Lake Arthur, LA at 10am.
