Alton J. Royer, Sr.

Alton John Royer, Sr., 86, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 15, 2012.


Born in Houston River to Elwood and Eva Peltier Royer, Mr. Royer lived most of his life in Sulphur. He was a 1943 graduate of Sulphur High School and attended USL. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy on the hospital ship USS Tryon, while stationed in the Pacific. For over 35 years he was a sales representative for Lake Charles Pipe and Supply, retiring in 1996. Mr. Royer was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur. He enjoyed playing golf when he had the opportunity.


Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Alton J. Royer, Jr. and wife Pam of Houston; his daughter, Alicia Jones and husband Daniel of Moss Bluff; sister, Dorothy Bares of Carlyss; and five grandchildren, Hunter, Heath and Holdt Jones and Camille and Michael Royer.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than fifty years, Ora Jeanne Redding Royer and one son, Andrew Drew Royer.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Sulphur under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. David Holder will officiate. Interment will be at Royer Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.


Memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering through First Baptist Church, 517 South Huntington Street, Sulphur, LA 70663.
