"Verdy" Heyd Veron, passed away Monday, December 15, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Veron was born in Lake Charles on March 12, 1929 to John and Maisie Johnson Heyd. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, J. Michael Veron and wife Melinda of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Dr. Shane Chapman and wife Dr. Nicole Pace Chapman of Hanover, NH, Amy Welsh of Lake Charles, Matthew Veron of Lake Charles, John Heyd Veron of Los Angeles, CA, Katharine Leigh Veron of Denver, CO and Dylan Michael Earl Veron of Little Rock, AR and six great-grandchildren, Harrison, Camille, Connor, Aidan, Brennan and Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty two years, Judge Earl E. Veron and son, Douglas Earl Veron. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 PM Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Friday will be from 10:00 AM until 12:45 PM in the funeral home. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Arthur Primeaux, Dr. Garrett Ryder and caregivers: Tommie, Denise, Megan and Melissa "her little angels", for the excellent care they gave to Mrs. Veron.
