Alvia Joseph Menard

Alvia Joseph Menard, 82 passed away on September 12, 2014 in a local hospital. Alvia lived in Hackberry and moved to Sulphur in 1988. He worked for 36 years and retired from Firestone. He served his country in the US Army and the U S Air Force. Alvia enjoyed reading, football and was dedicated to his Catholic Faith. Alvia is survived by his three brothers, Joseph Menard and wife, Tanya, Gene Menard and J.B. Menard; three sisters, Mary Moses, Irene Gibson and husband, Vernon and Linda Templet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rena and Anna Menard; 3 brothers, Huey Menard, Rena Menard, Jr., James "Jimmy" Menard; a sister, Cordy Judice and 2 nephews, Richard and James Menard. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2p.m.at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father D.B. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from4-9p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary at 6:30p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at the funeral at 9 a.m. until time of the service.
