Alvin Francis Grabert

Alvin Francis Grabert, Jr, 90, of Lake Charles, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at a local care facility. A native of Port Sulphur, La., Al was born on April 24, 1933, to Alvin and Elsie Grabert.

Al was employed by PPG Industries from 1963 until his retirement in 2002 and held several positions throughout his tenure there. In 1970 he transferred to the Ponce, Puerto Rico plant and remained there until 1976. Once that job ended, he returned to the Lake Charles plant once again.

Al was a special, kind, thoughtful, and generous man with a great sense of humor and heart of gold. He loved going to the Lake Charles Racquet Club with his coffee drinking buddies, as well as other activities with his friends and family. His absence will be felt by many, and he will be missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Patti Christy and her husband Ray, son; Rickie Grabert, grandson; Brandon Grabert and his wife April, great-grand-children; Kopen and River Grabert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Evon Wittekopp Grabert, grandchildren; Ashlee Breanne Christy and Eric William Christy and brother; Byron Carroll Grabert.

The family has entrusted cremation arrangements to Johnson Funeral Home.
