Alvin Joseph Richard

Alvin Joseph Richard, 95, of (Gillis) Ragley died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 5:54 AM in his residence.


Mr. Richard was a native of Grand Coteau, LA. He moved to Gillis in 1947, before moving to Ragley. He was a devoted husband and father. Mr. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.


Mr. Richard was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, The Cajun French Music Association (CFMA), The Cattleman's Association and The Calcasieu Range Riders. He was a farmer/rancher all of his life.


Mr.Richard is survived by one daughter, Michelle (Randy) Fawcett of Ragley; three sons, Roe (Mary Ann) Richard of Moss Bluff, Eldon (Angie) Richard of Gillis and Charles (Sandy) Richard of Topsy; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Matte Richard; his parents, Oscar and Ament Richard-Lebeouf; nine brothers and seven sisters; and one great grandchild, Jared Wade Richard.


A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Cemetery in Bel, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary and scripture service being held at 6:00


The family would like to express their deep love and appreciation for all his caregivers and nurses along with his favorite physician and friend Dr. Jalal Joudeh. We know without all of you we would not have had this time with him. May God bless each of you.
