Alvin Paul "Pookie" Hebert

Alvin Paul “Pookie” Hebert, 75, of Cameron passed away Friday, October 05, 2018 in a hospital in Poplarville, MS.

Mr. Hebert was born in Erath, LA, lived most his life in Cameron, LA and lived the past three years in Poplarville, MS. He was a retired Maritime Boat Captain, having worked primarily for Norman McCall. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, watching wildlife and since his move to Mississippi, planting, gardening and being in the country. Mr. Hebert loved life. He had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes, pulling pranks and laughing with family and friends. He will be most remembered for his kindness, generosity and his desire to help anyone in need.

He leaves to honor his memory, one son, Alvin James Hebert and wife Janet of Poplarville, MS; three daughters, Elizabeth Hebert Hollifield and husband Mark of Pace, FL, Shannon Hebert Williams and husband Jeff of Florence, AL and Patrice Hebert Schmidt and husband Craig of LaPlace, LA; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Presley Hebert and wife Cathy of Winnie, TX and Allen Hebert and wife Norma of Humble, TX; step-sisters of the Authement family; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Hebert and Lena Richard Authement; and three brothers, LJ Hebert, Preston Hebert and Virgie Hebert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cameron under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Babasino Fernandes will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Wednesday will continue from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
