Alvin Lawrence “Tim” Holt, Jr., 87, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 6:30 AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in College Station, TX.
Mr. Holt was born March 24, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves for eleven years. Following his military discharge, he lived in California from 1956 until 1988 and has called Lake Charles home since 1994. He was an airline pilot for U. S. Airways / American Airlines, retiring in 1992 as a Captain after twenty-nine years of service. In 1978, he along with his coworkers and friends, developed a residential airpark in Nevada that he served as the CEO / President when they sold in March of 2001. Mr. Holt was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He served as a lifetime member of VFW Post #2130 and was a member of the Cajun French Music Association (CFMA). Mr. Holt was an avid football fan, especially LSU, and loved all sports including NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing golf and hunting during his younger years.
Mr. Holt is survived by his wife of eight years, Nell Bertrand Holt; sons, Kenny Bertrand, Jr. and wife Carol and Michael Bertrand and wife Angie; daughter, Terri Thacker and husband John; brothers, Neil B. Holt and Curtis R. Holt; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and coworkers that he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-four years, Verna Mae Fruge Holt; parents, Alvin Holt, Sr. and Selma Admunson Holt; brother, Dennis Holt; and Nell’s daughter, Tracey McDonald.
His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Father Jeffrey Starkovich will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family members and friends will be at the funeral home in Moss Bluff on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
