Andrea Gary “Angie” Fontenot, 69, of Lake Charles passed away at 2:11 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in a New Orleans hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Fontenot was born on August 9, 1951, in Lake Charles where she resided all her life.  She attended LaGrange High School and graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1969.  Following graduation, she began her career as a dental lab technician and retired in 2007.  Mrs. Fontenot was a dedicated and active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church where she was a Catholic Daughter and a member of the Altar Society.

She had a passion for antique cars and belonged to the Contraband Car Club along with her husband.  Mrs. Fontenot took pleasure in traveling, gardening, working in her flower beds, riding her motorcycle, and baking her chocolate chip and sugar cookies that were both fan favorites for anyone who had the pleasure of eating them.  She appreciated the beauty of waterfalls and light houses.  Mrs. Fontenot also had a fond love of music and dancing.  She will be remembered for her love for her family and her outgoing and friendly nature, to know her was to love her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Gary T. Fontenot of Lake Charles; two beloved daughters, Tamma Powell (Chris) of Moss Bluff and Morgan Freeman (Irving Jr.) of Fenton; her mother, Elaine Gary of Lake Charles; a sister, Nancy Reece (Mitch) of Houston; grandchildren, Evan Powell (Kellee), Garrett Powell, Laurasia, Vontrell, Chris, Alexx, Alicya, Camryn, Daylyn, Makeela, Tykyra, Ejueni, and Dionte; one great granddaughter, Bradlee Mae Powell; sisters in law, Paula Bruce (Greg) and Jackie Moran (Sam); nephews, Jonathan Hornsby and Ian Bruce; and nieces, Jennifer Hornsby and Megan Waggoner. The relationships with her first cousin, Wanda Chaumont, and best friend, Cyd Daugherty, were full of unconditional love and support for so many years and ones that Angie truly cherished.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Charles Gary.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Fr. Samuel Orsot will officiate.  Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
