Anita Sonnier Midkiff

Anita Sonnier Midkiff, 87, of Lake Charles, died Thursday May 15, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness. Anita was a native of Hayes, and a 1938 graduate of Bell City High School. She was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a proud member of the choir. Preceding Anita in death are her parents, Allee and Norma Sonnier, sisters Virginia Anderson and Maedelle Reddin and sister and brother-in-law, Harold and LaVonna Delaney; beloved husband, Murvis Midkiff; son, Roderick Midkiff and daughter, Maureen Midkiff. She is survived by her daughter Karen Midkiff-Ell and husband Richard; sister, Wilma Dufford and husband William; brother, Joseph Sonnier and wife Pauline; a host of nieces and nephews; and her four legged feline friend, Nellie. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM today, Friday May 16, 2014, at Johnson Funeral Home until 1:30 PM. A funeral service will be at 1:30 PM with Father Alan Trouille officiating. Anita will be entombed beside her husband in Ollieville Baptist Church Cemetery in the Cottonwood Community of Vernon Parish at 4:00 PM
