Ann Lynn Lefer

December 7, 1927 — September 23, 2012

Ann Lynn Jones LeFer, 83, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, in a local care facility.

Born in Between, Georgia to John Paul and Ada Lizzie Jones Garner, Mrs. LeFer moved to the Lake Charles area at age twelve. She was a graduate of Iowa High School and attended McNeese State College. She was a homemaker, raising her four children in Florida. In her later life, she moved back to Lake Charles. Mrs. LeFer was a long-time resident of Oak Park Care Center and Lake Charles Care Center, where she was lovingly known by the staff and residents as Ms. Ann. She loved her family and the staff and residents at the center who became like her family. She always remembered family and friends' birthdays with a card and note. She had a wonderful memory and could readily recall names, faces, places, and even dates, which was a source of comfort to so many. Ms. Ann knew no strangers; she was kindhearted to all with whom she came in contact. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Mrs. LeFer is survived by her daughter, Dr. Brenda A LeFer of Atlanta, Georgia; sons, Randy LeFer and wife Regina of Hayes, Louisiana and John Curtis LeFer of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren Heather E. LeFer Moore of Sulphur and Dylan LeFer of Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. A very special thanks to cousins Russell and wonderful wife Kathy Mixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary P. LeFer; and siblings, Margaret Mixon, John Ball, Sue Roberts, and Ferel Betancourt.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home. Bro. Russell Mixon will officiate. Interment will be at Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Oak Park Care Center and Lake Charles Care Center, with special thanks going to Gail and Margentina.
