Ann Marie O'Keefe

Ann Marie O’Keefe, 55, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Ann was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles.  She was a true representation of genuine love, kindness, appreciation and perpetual bliss.  She worked alongside her many friends for thirty years with Calcasieu Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. of which her mother was a founding member and the 1st President.  She enjoyed participating in Special Olympics.  She had tons of fun bowling, swimming, trips to Schlitterbahn waterpark and the other many events provided by CARC.  Ann had many hobbies that included; enjoying photos, taking photos (especially selfies), drawing pictures, listening to music, dancing and Candy Crush.  She loved dressing up for the CARC Mardi Gras Ball and attending the events of Mardi Gras.  Ann always led prayer at the holiday table.  Her favorite meals were hamburgers, French fries, fried chicken and especially boiled crawfish (in season or not!). 

She leaves to honor her memory, her dear sisters at Cherryhill Group Home, Vicki Vaughn, Vicki Baird, Vanessa Threatt, Karen Queenan, and Jeannie Chaddick and all her loving caretakers. Also brothers, Dennis O’Keefe and wife Brenda of Atlanta, GA, Jeffery O’Keefe and husband Eddie Jacobson of Lake Charles, David O’Keefe of  Many, LA, and Steven O’Keefe of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund F. and Delores Morasco O’Keefe.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Deacon Richard Donohoe will officiate.  Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
