Ann Works

September 22, 1948 — April 1, 2022

Ann Works, 73, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, April 1st, 2022 in a local hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Works was born September 22, 1948, one of thirteen children to Robert B. Pearce, Sr. and Edna Pearl Claypool Price.  She was raised and educated in Orlando and shortly after graduation moved to the Lake area.  Upon travels by cab in the city, she met the man that would come to be her husband and Southwest Louisiana became her home.  She enjoyed her children and grandchildren’s activities when they were younger.  Mrs. Works was an avid reader; enjoyed cross stitch, latch hook, collecting butterflies and loved to fish.  She was a faithful servant and member of Trinity Baptist Church.  She will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her quick wit and sense of humor.

She leaves to honor her memory, two daughters, Betty Jean “BJ” Frieu and Barbara Ann Young (Ricci), both of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Amanda Danielle Gutkowski (Hannah), Blake Leann Romero (Tyler), Carissa Marie Young, Dylan Brice Young, Tana Hall and Anna Jackson and one great grandson, Easton Parker Romero.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Works; youngest daughter, Wanda Marie Works Barton; son-in-law, Paul G. Frieu, Jr. and granddaughter, Tristin Dale Young.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 06, 2022 in the Chapel of Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Reverend Steve James will officiate.  Interment services will follow at Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in at Trinity.
