Anna Lee Broussard Patin

March 5, 1921 — September 7, 2016

Anna Lee Broussard Patin grew her wings on the evening of Wednesday, September 7. She was born March 5, 1921 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, the daughter of Lee Robert Broussard and Marie Candide Rees. She was a direct descendant of François Broussard, one of the pioneer French settlers of Acadia, and John Rhys, a Welsh Pennsylvanian who served in the Revolutionary War.

She was a skilled seamstress, and a renowned cook who mastered the traditional Acadian dishes favored by generations of the women in her family. Having a large family herself, a typical Sunday dinner served at least a dozen people every week.

She was also a member of the Lake Charles Junior League, and later a sustaining member, and of the Planters’ League of Lake Charles.

Anna Lee’s husband, J. Fred Patin, predeceased her in 1991. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Allison Candide Patin. She is survived by her youngest sister, Sylvia Broussard Elender of Lake Charles; by her seven children and their spouses: Jim and Chris Heuser Patin of Granville, Ohio; Tom and Martha Milford Patin of Austin, Texas; Bill and Sally Savoie Patin of Houston, Texas; Mike and Becky Ellis Patin of Irvine, California; Bob and Mary Abate Patin of Austin, Texas; Mary and Gregg Foreman of Lake Charles; and Anne Patin Barnes of Lake Charles. All of us hold fond and loving memories of our Alee. We celebrate her joyous and generous gifts to us, and know she will live on in our hearts. May she be at peace.

Anna Lee donated her body for medical research.
