Ann Simpson, 81, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.
Ann was a native of Klondike, LA and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She worked in accounting at Dunham Price before retiring from Gus Schram, LTD. She and her late husband, Al Simpson, owned and operated the Putt-Putt Golf Course from 1961 to 1995. Ann was a very active member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where she was on the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, served as Eucharistic Minister, was active in R.C.I.A., and sang in the choir. She was also very active in the Calcasieu Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, having been honored with the Silver Beaver Award.
Preceding Ann in death are her parents, Elue and Ednaze Thibodeaux Roche’; sister, Myrdie Rose Boudreaux; beloved husband of 49 years, Al Simpson; and grandson, Javan Charles Simpson. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories, five sons, Terence Simpson, Sr. and wife Christina, Westlake; Gregory Simpson and wife Debra, Lake Charles; Charles Simpson and wife Mazie, Westlake; Doug Simpson and wife Michelle, St. Mary’s, GA; and Pat Simpson and wife Amanda, Denton, TX; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Barbie, Lake Charles; brother, Rodney John Roche’ and wife Della, Lake Arthur; sister, Mildred Ann Roche’ and husband Anthony Kouzounis, Houston, TX; nineteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday October 4, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 1:00 PM on Thursday October 5, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church with Father Marcus Johnson serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a special word of thanks to Amanda Chambless, who attended to the needs of Ann during her brief illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made to either St. Margaret Catholic Church or School, 2500 Enterprise Blvd., Lake Charles, LA 70601.
