Anna "Mawmaw Chubby" Richards, 85, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 24, 1939, in Sudetenland, Germany. Anna lived a life full of love, family, and devotion.
It was in Hanau that Anna met the love of her life while he was stationed there with the U.S. Army. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with family and cherished memories.
Anna, affectionately known as "Mawmaw Chubby," had a special way of making everyone feel at home. She loved cooking and ensuring everyone left her house with a full stomach and a happy heart. Her love for her family was boundless, and her home was always a place filled with warmth and laughter.
Anna enjoyed the outdoors, spending her time gardening, caring for her yard, and camping with her family. She took great pride in her faith and was a devoted member of St. Theodore's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her four sons, Dale (Laura), Jimmy (Kay), Pat (Cindy), and Timmy (Carol); her nine grandchildren, Matthew (Christi), Jason, Hayley, Dillon (Chelsea), Trey (Alyse), Taylor, Marshall, Kayleigh, and Caden; and six great-grandchildren, Cohen, Addie, Thea, Quinn, Daisy, and Norah. She is also survived by other relatives and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Doyle Richards, her parents, Anton and Barbera Quoika, and her two brothers Franz and Ernst Quoika.
Those serving as pallbearers will include Matthew Richards, Jason Richards, Dillon Richards, Trey Augustine, Taylor Richards, Marshall Richards, Caden Richards, Cohen Richards.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, followed by a burial at Prien Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be open to the public on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 PM.
Anna's kind spirit, unwavering faith, and love for her family will remain a legacy. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
