Annie Laurie Turner Dugas, 80, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Dugas was born and raised in North Carolina. She has lived most of her life in Lake Charles after living in many states while following her husband’s career. She retired with nearly thirty-five years with the Calcasieu Parish School Board, primarily as a Cafeteria server at Barbe High School. She enjoyed being a great cook, working puzzles, reading romance novels, playing bingo, going to the casino and most importantly, garage saling. Mrs. Dugas loved the outdoors and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an admirable lady of her generation, always busy, doing things for others and taking care of family. Mrs. Dugas, “Maw Maw Sticker” will be remembered for designated nicknames she gave to her grandchildren, the countless “something specials” and “furnishings” purchased at garage sales for her family; for her smile, laugh, quirky wit and ability to bring out smiles and laughter in others.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Larry Paul Dugas and wife Gwen of Lake Charles; one daughter, Paula Dugas Boales and husband Bruce of Lake Charles; six grandchildren, Tiffany Pedigo and husband Corey of Eunice; Amanda Rash and husband Micheal of Nederland, TX, Ashley Dugas, Jacob Dugas and wife Meghan, Laura Ellis and husband Joe, all of Lake Charles; Frank Allen Richardson, IV of Aiken, SC; four great-grandchildren, Parker Pedigo, Addison Ellis, Ava Rash and Aiden Ellis and one brother, Bill Ellis and wife Becky of Orlando, FL and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Dallas Paul Dugas; parents, Ernest Turner and Rachel Creech Turner and sister, Edna Inez Rainey.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2019 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Katie Simpson will officiate. Interment will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery in Lake Arthur. Visitation Friday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
Pallbearers for her service will be Larry Dugas, Bruce Boales, Jacob Dugas, Frank Allen Richardson, IV, Corey Pedigo, Micheal Rash and Joe Ellis. Honory Pallbearers will be Vaughn Richard, Parker Pedigo, Aiden Ellis and Bill Ellis.
Memorial donations may be made to LAPAW, P.O. BOX 4964, Lake Charles, LA 70606 in honor of Mrs. Dugas’s love for dogs.
