Annie Lea Salter, 103, died Monday, Febtuary 19, 2018, in a local care facility, with her granddaughters at her side.
Born on February 6, 1915 in Beaumont, TX to Jessie Sewell Daugherty and Josephine Moye Daugherty, Mrs. Salter worked as a beautician. She lived in Sulphur for over 40 years and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sulphur. She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing cards.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two step granddaughters, Lisa Salter of Lake Charles and Cindy Salter Surles of DeQuincy, and one step grandson, Scott Salter of Norman, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Worthey; her second husband, Frank T. Salter, Sr.; her stepson, Frank T. Salter, Jr. and his wife Georgia; and her step grandson, Stephen Salter.
Graveside services will be held at 1PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Kirbyville City Cemetery in Kirbyville, TX, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Bobbie Yellott will officiate.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given their beloved grandmother to the doctors and staff of Brighton Bridge Hospice, and a special thank you to the staff of Landmark Nursing Home and Andrea Robinson.
