Mrs. Annie T. Hensgens, 93, of Lake Charles died at 5:55 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in a local hospital with her family and friends at her side.


Mrs. Hensgens was born on June 2, 1917 in Crowley, Louisiana and has lived in Lake Charles since 1950. She was a graduate of St. Michael High School in Crowley, Louisiana. A farmer's wife that enjoyed cooking for everyone, gardening, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Hensgens was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven and Christ the King Catholic Churches. She was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Daughters and Christ the King Altar Society.


She is survived by her son John Hensgens Jr. and wife Becky of Lake Charles, three grandchildren; Kimberly Albrecht of Lake Charles, Kayla Hensgens and fiance' Jake Degeer of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kyle Hensgens and wife Jana of Lake Charles, five great grandchildren; Hailey and Hannah Webb, Blake Albrecht and Peyton and Presley Hensgens, one sister Agnes Doucet and husband Paul of Iota, LA, and sister-in-law Helen Thevis of Mowata, LA.


Mrs. Hensgens is preceded in death by her husband John Hensgens Sr. and her parents Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Thevis, and two brothers John and Joseph Thevis.


Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:30 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday at 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM. A scripture service will be held at 6:00 PM and a rosary will be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at 8:00 AM until 11:00AM in the funeral home.
