Aray Gawith

Aray Gawith, age 88, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, at a Lafayette hospital.

A resident of Lake Charles, she was an avid gardener who loved spending time outdoors. Preceding her in death was her son, Michael J. Mallette.

Survivors include her five children, Donna Blacklidge of Blanchard, LA, Carolyn Schmidt of Topeka, KS, Kenneth J. Mallette of Indian Village, Maria Cryer of Westlake, and Connie Gawith of Iowa; nine grandchildren, Diana Wollschlaeger, Keith and Brian Blacklidge, Dale Schmidt, Jr., Debbie Aragon, Randy and Brent Schmidt, Suzanne McTeer, and Melanie Guidry; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home. Brother Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 14, from 11 a.m. until time of service.
