Archie Peter Solari

Archie P. Solari, 78, 0f Lake Charles passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014, in a Houston, TX hospital. He was a native and life resident of Lake Charles and a graduate of Landry Memorial High School. Mr. Solari attended McNeese State University and taught drafting at Sowela, Delta School of Business, and the Calcasieu Parish School Board. He worked for Dunn and Quinn Architectural Engineers, Consolidated Aluminum, and Hackett and Bailey Architects & Civil Engineers and retired with over forty years of drafting. Mr. Solari was a fifty-seven year member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he was active as an usher. He coached baseball, football, and softball and was an umpire chief for South City Little League. He was involved in any activity his children or grandchildren were involved in. Archie loved fishing and spending time outdoors. His hobby was woodworking and painting birds. He was a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan and an avid McNeese Sports Fan. There was nothing more dear to him than his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Louise Elaine Fontenot Solari; one son, John Matthew Solari and Geralyn Guidry; two daughters, Elaine Newman and husband Patrick, and Karen Theriot and husband Patrick; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman Solari, Jr. and his twin brother, James Solari and wife Phyllis. His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 25, 2014, in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will be in Sallier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM, and continue Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home. The family request donations are made to the charity of choice.
