Archie Samuel Hebert, Sr., 86, Lake Charles, died Thursday May 19, 2016 at a local hospital following an extended illness.
Archie was a native of Chloe and lifetime resident of the Lake Charles Area. He attended Fenton High School, and honorably and faithfully served our country in the United States Navy. Prior to opening his own construction business, Archie worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and T. Miller and Sons. He owned and operated Archie Hebert Building Contractors for 43 years. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Group, a Cursesta Brother, and VFW Post 2130.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ethel Susan McConathy Hebert. He leaves to honor and cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie L. Elmer Hebert; son, Archie Samuel Hebert, Jr. (Patty), Lake Charles; daughters, Effie Mae Lyles (Robert), Lake Charles; Ethel Susan Broussard (Harold), Sweetlake; Mary Ann Daigle (David), Ragley; Collet Elizabeth Marks (Kenny), Ville Platte; and Kathy Louise Hebert, Ragley; three sisters,, Amy Fontenot, Mittie; Arlene Moffet, Sulphur; and Alicia Norris, Texas City, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 10:00 AM on Monday May 23, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with Monsignor James Gaddy serving as celebrant. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be at Prien Memorial Park.
